LARGE BREEDS
Common large breed dogs are the Chow Chow, Collie, Doberman, Rottweiler, and all kinds of Retreivers and Pointers. In naming a large puppy, you can focus on words describing his height or width. In the alternative, you can choose the name of a real person or imaginary character whose “dimensions” reflect those of your puppy. Suggestions: Notorious B.I.G., Magilla Gorilla, Kilimanjaro, Double-Dip, Beefeater, Lord Bigguns, Chubsy Wubsy, Mondo, Chief Big Wheels, and Goliath
MEDIUM BREEDS

SMALL BREEDS
Slightly different than toys and miniatures and sometimes called “lap dogs,” small breed dogs include the Cocker Spaniel, the Chinese Shar-pei and the Dachshund. TOYS and MINIATURES
Brussels Griffons, Maltese Italian Greyhounds, and Papillons are just some of the charming “mini” breeds that are so well-sized for companionship, along with Toy Poodles and Miniature Pinschers. You’ve got a large selection of names for these tiny dogs, including words that mean small as well as words that describe small objects. For fun, go against type and pick a name that’s the complete opposite.
